About Inga Gylyte
Inga Gylytė was born into a family of musicians in 1974. In 1992 she graduated from M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art (violin class of teacher B. Šmidtienė). Later she continued her studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (violin class of prof. R. Katilius, chamber ensemble class of prof. K. Kalinauskaitė, and quartet class of R. Kulikauskas). She was conferred a Master’s degree at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1998. In 1997 she was invited to play in the international chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica (artistic director Gidon Kremer). Together with this orchestra she played in the most famous concert halls in Europe, America and Asia and recorded a number of audio compact discs. She played chamber music in various prestigious chamber music festivals. From 2007 to 2009 she played in the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (artistic director Sergej Krylov).
She is a diploma (1990) and price (1992) winner of national chamber ensemble contests for young performers. She played solo with the chamber orchestra of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra (conductor prof. S. Sondeckis). I. Gylytė participated in international and national music festivals and played solo in chamber ensembles of various compositions both in Lithuania and abroad. Her repertoire includes music of various epochs, compositors and styles. She pays considerable attention to the music of Lithuanian composers, its editing and recording in Lithuanian radio.
In 2001 I. Gylytė started her pedagogic activities at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art (departments of chamber ensemble and string instruments). While working at this school she educated a number of diploma and price winners of prestigious national and international contests. In 2007 I. Gylytė was conferred a pedagogical qualification degree of a teacher-supervisor. In 2005 the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania awarded a certificate of appreciation to I. Gylytė for the preparation of price winners for international contests. She has been working in a position of a lector at the Department of Chamber Ensemble of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre since 2010. She is a chairperson of the methodical group of string instruments at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art since 2012.
In 2009 a certificate of appreciation of the President Valdas Adamkus was awarded to I. Gylytė for her significant contribution to the establishment and nourishment of spiritual values and musical tradition of Lithuanian community of art and culture.
